Acoustic Enclosures

Wakefield Acoustics have extensive experience in designing, manufacturing, and installing soundproof acoustic enclosures to address complex noise problems across a wide range of industries, applications and noise sources.

All our acoustic enclosures are designed and manufactured to meet both noise reduction specifications and client-specific access and maintenance requirements.

Noise Enclosures

We offer a range of noise enclosures with our experience ranging from close-fitting enclosures for fans, condensing units and pumps to large CHP and gas and diesel generator noise enclosures.

Working closely with OEMs, end users, contractors and consultants, we can provide standard registered models through to custom-designed full turn-key solutions.

Compressor Acoustic Enclosures

Our acoustic enclosures are well suited to reduce noise from industrial air compressors, both inside and outside, often used alongside other products such as acoustic louvres and attenuators. Compressor acoustic enclosures can be manufactured in a range of sizes, panel thicknesses and to bespoke specifications.

Generator Acoustic Enclosures

Installing a soundproof generator enclosure is the best way to address the acoustic challenges presented by gas and diesel generators.  Our experienced engineers can provide generator acoustic enclosure design for projects of all sizes across a range of industries and sectors.

Acoustic Enclosure Design

Our team of experts design each enclosure to meet the specific noise specifications of our customers, even when faced with complex applications, access requirements, or environmental challenges. These designs encompass a wide variety of options, ranging from prefabricated structures built in our factory to modular constructions that can be assembled on site. Whether you require a fully demountable framed fabrication or a convenient one-piece drop-over unit, we have a design that will meet your needs.

All our acoustic enclosures are built using tested sound enclosure panels which provide effective noise insulation and are available with panel thicknesses of 50mm, 75mm and 100mm as standard. However, thicker panels can be designed for specific applications where a higher level of noise reduction, or increased absorption is a necessity.

In addition, our acoustic enclosures can be provided with lighting, electrical systems and fire and gas detection systems, for both safe area and hazardous area environments.

  • What is an acoustic enclosure?

An acoustic enclosure, also known as a sound or noise enclosure or soundproof enclosure, is a structure that either contains or prevent the transmission of noise. These enclosures come in various sizes, ranging from small and portable units to large-scale structures.

  • What are acoustic enclosures made from?

Acoustic enclosures can be manufactured from a variety of materials including pre-galvanised sheet steel, precoated/coloured steel or stainless steel. The outer panels are formed from steel tray sections, which fully encapsulates a layer of absorptive acoustic media  and sound-deadening layers dependant upon the project requirements.

Acoustic insulation materials are odourless, rot-proof, non-hygroscopic, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

  • What are the benefits of acoustic enclosures?

Acoustic enclosures are a great solution to the growing problem of noise pollution in today’s world. They offer various advantages, such as environmental benefits and long-term cost savings. Discover more about the benefits of using acoustic enclosures by reading our blog post on the topic.

  • How are acoustic enclosures created?

To create a full enclosure, acoustic panels are mounted into a support system designed specifically to suit access or maintenance requirements.

Small close-fitting enclosures would normally be formed using a bolted panel-to-panel construction.

Large acoustic enclosures and screens would comprise a skeleton frame fabricated from steel hollow sections or beams, with panels retained by bolted cleat plates , and a series of access panels and doors.

  • What are the requirements for an acoustic enclosure?

Within industrial workplace, the acoustic enclosure would ideally reduce noise levels below 80 dB (A), which is the lower exposure action value of the current Control of Noise at Work Regulations in the UK. Where enclosures are required to reduce environmental noise, the acoustic elements of the enclosure are designed to specific project requirements.
